March 21, 2025 – Louisiana
Yesterday, I had the absolute pleasure of leading a budgeting session with the amazing members of the Child Care Association of Louisiana (CCAL) during their weekly meeting!
This group of passionate and hardworking childcare leaders is on the front lines of early childhood education, and it was an honor to share strategies that can help their businesses thrive.
Building Budgets That Actually Work
During our session, we tackled one of the toughest but most important areas for any childcare owner: budgeting for profitability without sacrificing quality.
I shared a framework designed specifically for childcare providers, including:
- How to simplify budgeting into a structure that’s easy to follow.
- Key formulas and percentages that guide spending and savings.
- A one-page worksheet that allows owners to clearly see where their money is going and plan for sustainable growth.
The goal wasn’t just to create numbers on paper—it was to give providers tools they can immediately use to strengthen their schools, support their staff, and ultimately serve more families.
Gratitude for Community & Collaboration
A special thank you goes to CCAL for inviting me into this space, and to Cindy Bishop of Checkmate Strategies for her partnership and commitment to empowering Louisiana childcare providers.
Every time I connect with groups like CCAL, I’m reminded that while the challenges in childcare are real, so are the solutions—and they start with equipping leaders to feel confident in their business decisions.
Why This Matters
When childcare owners have strong financial systems in place, they can:
- Weather challenges like rising costs or changing reimbursement rates.
- Retain talented staff with fair wages.
- Invest back into their programs for long-term success.
Healthy childcare businesses mean stronger communities, and I’m grateful to play a small role in helping providers move closer to that vision.
Thank you again to CCAL and Cindy Bishop for the opportunity to pour into this incredible community. I look forward to continuing the conversation and supporting childcare leaders across Louisiana and beyond.
